Colorful pattern with abstract shapes in an abstract art quilt

Chromatic Inversion Art Quilt

$2,000.00 USD

This art quilt composition emphasizes rhythm and balance through repetition and color reversals across the piece. The artwork is a vibrant abstract composition featuring a series of vertically oriented, irregular rectangular shapes arranged side by side. Each shape is filled with bold, contrasting colors including shades of orange, red, green, purple, brown, cream, yellow, teal, and blue. Within each shape, smaller elongated forms in contrasting colors are nested, creating layered geometric patterns.

After hand cutting pieces of solid colored fabric, designing the composition, and sewing the pieces together I layered the quilt top with cotton batting and stitched many closely-spaced lines through the layers to add texture. This is called matchstick quilting.

I finished it with a sewn facing giving the quilt frameless straight edges. On the back of the quilt I sewed a fabric sleeve which holds a wooden slat (Included). The slat has a small eyebolt at each end so you can hang the quilt on the wall with two nails. The slat is slightly narrower than the quilt so the slat and nails won’t be visible when the quilt is hung on the wall.

52” wide x 38” high
