Rolling Hills Art Quilt
Many shades of green in sloping curves evokes rolling hills in this abstract art quilt. The composition features overlapping and intersecting geometric curves arranged in a dynamic yet balanced manner, creating a sense of movement and depth. The texture of the quilt is visible, adding a tactile dimension to the piece. The overall effect is harmonious, blending organic curves with a modern geometric style.
After hand cutting pieces of solid colored fabric, designing the composition, and sewing the pieces together I layered the quilt top with cotton batting and stitched many closely-spaced lines through the layers to add texture. This is called matchstick quilting.
I finished it with a sewn facing giving the quilt frameless straight edges. On the back of the quilt I sewed a fabric sleeve which holds a wooden slat (Included). The slat has a small eyebolt at each end so you can hang the quilt on the wall with two nails. The slat is slightly narrower than the quilt so the slat and nails won’t be visible when the quilt is hung on the wall.
